Hi, I am Belinda Fettke.
I am a wife and mother of 3 grown children.
I was a registered nurse in a past life.
After 13 years as a stay at home Mum, I ventured back into the workforce as the PR Marketing photographer for Scotch Oakburn College for 8½ years. This involved covering every aspect of school life, in which I immersed myself and loved that I could capture kids being kids in a state of the art educational facility. I could celebrate their achievements, their friendships and their growth to mature young adults. It was a very precious time and I learned so much about photography and ventured into Social Media.
I began my own photography business BPhotography over 7 years now.
I consider myself a storyteller and am drawn to passionate, creative people … hence my bi-line “the Art of Storytelling”. I want to capture memories and share stories through the visual medium of photography. I especially love photographing people and consider myself lucky to do something I love as ‘work’.
I find inspiration in the simple things around me, in love, in family and in amazing literature. To convey an emotion and feel something real from an image or written words is incredible to me.
I look for light to see where it falls and the shadows it creates. I find textures intriguing.
I love to laugh and I sing whenever I feel like singing. I sing to my steering wheel regularly on long drives – it makes me happy!
I am humbled by the wonderful people I have met through my work, my photography, my association with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and allied resources. Humbled that I have permission to capture the deep essence of true emotions and precious moments in time. Often these moments can’t be repeated. I am honoured to capture people’s stories and thankful that I can share them.
While I specialize in wedding photography, family and children’s portraiture I also photograph pregnancies, newborns and pets. I am happy to go to special places for my client portraiture, somewhere that has true meaning for them.
I take time to perfect my craft, to know what I love and to be inspired and inspire others.
I am proud of the work I produce.
I am an Artisan.
My Acqua Panna Still Water and San Pellegrino Sparkling Water has arrived!
It was with great excitement that I received my 12 cases of Acqua Panna Still Water and San Pellegrino Sparkling Water last week.
I had won a photography competition the company ran at the L’oriel fashion Show in March asking for their product to be photographed at the event. I submitted an image I took of Megan with two of the guys handing out the Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino Sparkling Water and it won! Thankyou to Sophie Digby (Sanpellegrino Asia Pacific) for finding a way to get all the bottles to me. Delicious water and very much appreciated.
The Hotel Launceston’s Titanium Bar and Bistro is a lovely spot for a Christening lunch.
Maisie and Shannon booked the Titanium Bar & Bistro in the Hotel Launceston for lunch after Ethan’s Christening. The Titanium Bar and Bistro area was beautifully decorated for the occassion. There was a long central table with blue and white balloons along its length. The Titanium Bar and Bistro staff included little extra’s like a welcome sign on the chalkboard and Ethan’s name on the menu’s which really made it very special.
The restaurant space is flooded with natural light, perfect for some portraiture of the guests at the luncheon.
Ethan’s Christening, Church of Apostles, Launceston
I couldn’t imagine not photographing Ethan’s Christening when Maisie and Shannon asked me. I had already photographed them for an engagement session, their wedding two years ago and twice since Ethan has been born. The Christening was held at the Church of Apostles in Launceston and close family from both sides attended. Ethan was a gorgeous age to take everything in and happily basked in all the attention.
Perfect time for a Family Photoshoot is when family comes to stay.
Rowena and Dane had family visiting from New Zealand when they asked me if I would photograph them spending time together. It is my favourite Portrait session. Couples, Parents, Grandparents, siblings and little ones around. In this case it was nieces and the girls were very cute!! Rain was threatening so Inveresk was a place I knew we could keep dry and have some great backdrops and lighting and the girls would have room to run around. I just love capturing family groups and real emotion. Thank you so much for asking me Rowena.
An Adelaide couple took the opportunity to have a family portrait session while holidaying in Launceston.
I met Camille, Jason and their boys a couple of years ago at Camille’s sisters wedding in Launceston. How time flies! Camille asked me to let her know if I was ever coming to Adelaide, because she would love to book me in for a family portrait session.
I haven’t had the chance to visit Adelaide yet, but the perfect opportunity for their photoshoot arose when they came back to Launceston for a family Christening last weekend. We popped down to Inveresk and had such a fun session. The boys were just gorgeous and I always love photographing the couple together.
What Colour is Love? Pat & Bert Howard know.
Pat and Bert Howard are an inspirational Launceston couple.
The book, ‘What Colour is Love?’ is an amazing story of love, patience and tenacity. Published in 2013, Linda McKenzie shares the memoirs of Pat Howard, the 1996 Barnardos Australian Mother of the Year and pioneer of inter-country adoption.
After complications following the birth of their first child, Pat and Bert decide to adopt and over the years their family expands by fifteen children, three adopted locally and the rest from diverse countries such as Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Mauritius, Fiji and Vanuatu. Several of these children suffer from serious deprivations as a result of their institutionalisation in overseas orphanages.
Pat and Bert are the pioneers of inter-country adoption, paving the way for many other Australian families to realise their dreams of parenthood.
I am honoured to know this wonderful family and to share and capture a little of their history.
Mark Husband of Regal Dry Cleaning and Belinda Fettke of BPhotography team up again.
As a photographer I love the opportunity to publish my work in magazines and to see it on display, publicly.
When Mark Husband took over Regal Dry Cleaning in Hobart Road, Kings Meadows a few years ago, he came to me with a request to provide some lifestyle images to brighten up the back wall above the counter and provide something for his clients to look at and enjoy while they waited. I am excited to have also added a canvas image made up of three panels to the side wall last week and we are just about to update the images above the counter.
It’s a great way to support and promote local businesses and at the same time, be able to showcase my work and some of the beautiful people I get to photograph. <3 photography
I was asked to share My Story on LinkedIn
I have to say I was a bit chuffed when I received the email below, after uploading my Spring Wedding photograph, requesting ‘My Story’ from The LinkedIn Team!!
“Dear Belinda, Thanks for being a LinkedIn member! We’re impressed by the visual content you’ve uploaded to your LinkedIn profile, and would love to highlight your profile to inspire other members of the LinkedIn community. We often have the chance to feature member profiles in the press, on our site, or in our social media channels. Are you interested in these opportunities? If so, please share your story with us! Share Your Story Best, The LinkedIn Team”
I had also recently updated by Behance Portfolio and shared it on LinkedIn – http://t.co/5me96NjaJ4
I was asked 3 questions and I have shared my answers here.
1) Why did you upload visual content to your LinkedIn profile? (500 char. limit)
I believe that our world is visual and as a photographer, specialising in weddings and portraiture, it makes sense to me to upload content that is predominantly image based to create a media rich profile across all Social Media Platforms. I love to illustrate my work through images and know they will capture attention far more effectively than text, alone. Visual content also increases engagement with my audience by encouraging ‘sociability’ through comments, likes and re-sharing of posts.
2) How has uploading visual content to your LinkedIn profile helped you in your career? (500 char. limit)
Uploading visual content to my LinkedIn profile has given me the ability to showcase a dynamic, creative portfolio, which allows me to engage potential clients and to enhance my Social Media presence. While LinkedIn may be the largest on-line professional networking site, widely used in the corporate world, I believe there is a growing opportunity for creative people to use this Social Media platform with success.
3) What are your tips for other LinkedIn members? (500 char. limit)
A LinkedIn page should be dynamic, up to date and have the ability to engage potential clients, employers and employees in a professional manner. As a ‘creator’ on the LinkedIn platform you have just a moment in time to capture your audience. The ability to add visual content significantly enhances your on-line presence and maximises your impact Social Media platforms. With over 200 million active users on LinkedIn it is imperative to stand out.
Gary Fettke NoFructose
Photographing family can often be challenging. There is an expectation that every photo I take will be ‘professional’. Gone are the days of stealing a few happy snaps. It can be a little daunting sometimes, but I love it when I can capture a look that I know is uniquely theirs. I look I see when they are completely relaxed. Thank you Gary, for trusting me to capture ‘you’.
Photographing family can sometimes prove more difficult than photographing clients, but I love it #Gary @FructoseNo pic.twitter.com/rWxL0teXG6
