I  have to say I was a bit chuffed when I received the email below, after uploading my Spring Wedding photograph, requesting ‘My Story’ from The LinkedIn Team!!

“Dear Belinda, Thanks for being a LinkedIn member! We’re impressed by the visual content you’ve uploaded to your LinkedIn profile, and would love to highlight your profile to inspire other members of the LinkedIn community. We often have the chance to feature member profiles in the press, on our site, or in our social media channels. Are you interested in these opportunities? If so, please share your story with us! Share Your Story Best, The LinkedIn Team”

I had also recently updated by Behance Portfolio and shared it on LinkedIn – http://t.co/5me96NjaJ4

I was asked 3 questions and I have shared my answers here.

1) Why did you upload visual content to your LinkedIn profile? (500 char. limit)

I believe that our world is visual and as a photographer, specialising in weddings and portraiture, it makes sense to me to upload content that is predominantly image based to create a media rich profile across all Social Media Platforms. I love to illustrate my work through images and know they will capture attention far more effectively than text, alone. Visual content also increases engagement with my audience by encouraging ‘sociability’ through comments, likes and re-sharing of posts.

2) How has uploading visual content to your LinkedIn profile helped you in your career? (500 char. limit)

Uploading visual content to my LinkedIn profile has given me the ability to showcase a dynamic, creative portfolio, which allows me to engage potential clients and to enhance my Social Media presence. While LinkedIn may be the largest on-line professional networking site, widely used in the corporate world, I believe there is a growing opportunity for creative people to use this Social Media platform with success.

3) What are your tips for other LinkedIn members? (500 char. limit)

A LinkedIn page should be dynamic, up to date and have the ability to engage potential clients, employers and employees in a professional manner. As a ‘creator’ on the LinkedIn platform you have just a moment in time to capture your audience. The ability to add visual content significantly enhances your on-line presence and maximises your impact Social Media platforms. With over 200 million active users on LinkedIn it is imperative to stand out.
